Chuck Rowe, President of Indmar Marine Engines, has been selected as a recipient of the prestigious Award of Distinction by the American Water Ski Educational Foundation’s Water Ski Hall of Fame Selection Committee. The Award of Distinction recognizes individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the sport and the water skiing community.
Rowe’s innovative industry leadership, landmark achievements in the development of water skiing coupled with his length of dedication and service to the industry, made him a clear choice for this prestigious award. From the first to bring fuel injected engines to the market to introducing an innovative green technology three years earlier than regulation that reduces exhaust emissions, just because it was the right thing to do.
Chuck Rowe has continuously touched the lives of water skiers and families across the U.S. year after year. Without Indmar’s introduction of fuel injection to the market place, we wouldn’t have the cruise systems and technologies in place that we have today. Indmar has pushed the envelope much like an athlete introducing new innovations and technologies enabling the sport to progress and grow.
Not only has Rowe changed the way the sport is powered, he was also one of the original supporters of the Pro Water Ski tour and AWSEF foundation. Rowe is a true believer in the athletes and has always made sure the athletes were funded through Indmar’s sponsorship. As late as 2008, the Indmar Performance Award re-awarded the best athletes on tour with a yearend bonus. Rowe and Indmar have always been more than just a check to the sport.
Rowe will be honored with Jay Bennett, Dave Clark, Jack Lukes and Jack Wiley who were also selected as recipients and the 2010 Hall of Fame inductee, Darin Shapiro. The group will be awarded at the AWSEF’s 28th Annual Water Ski Hall of Fame induction ceremony to be held on April 10th at the Lakeland Center in Lakeland, Fla.
In addition to Rowe’s dedication to water skiing and Pro Tour events, he has devoted a considerable amount of energy giving back to the recreational marine industry by serving as the Chairman of the NMMA and Chairman of the EMD. And to this date, Rowe still currently serves on the NMMA Board of Directors. From 1990-2001, Rowe served on the Water Sports Industry Association Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees for the American Water Ski Educational Foundation. Carole Lowe, Director of American Water Ski Educational Foundation Hall of Fame and Museum explained, “It will be a memorable event to see Chuck receive this deserving award for his contributions to the sport.”
